Confirmed cases of COVID-19 continued to increase across the globe for fourth straight week, with nearly 3.3 million fresh cases recorded over the previous seven days, reported the WHO on Wednesday.
The number of new deaths related to COVID-19 have reportedly levelled off following a six-week decline, with a little more than 60,000 new fatalities. Europe and the Americas continued to be accountable for around 8 in 10 of all cases and deaths. The only region that reported a decline in deaths compared to the previous week was the Western Pacific, with fatalities coming down by nearly a third.
